Two patients with prostatic adenocarcinoma are reported whose metastases harbored large
foci of squamous cell carcinoma. The prostatic origin of such areas was proven by
immunoperoxidase staining for prostatic acid phosphatase (PAP) as well as the
identification of transition zones between adenocarcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma.
The possible role of estrogen therapy in inducing the squamous change is discussed.
