Ghrelin, an acylated peptide originally identified in rat stomach as the endogenous ligand for
the growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHS-R), stimulates both food intake and growth
hormone (GH) secretion. Ghrelin is predominantly synthesized by a subset of endocrine
