Background Over 20% of pregnancies in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE)
and/or antiphospholipid antibodies (APL) result in an adverse pregnancy outcome (APO)
related to abnormal placentation. The ability to identify, early in pregnancy, patients who are
