The fine structure of multivesicular cells with large microvilli in the epithelium of the mouse colon

During the course of study of the mucous membrane of the distal part of the mouse colon a
type of cell was identified which differs significantly from other cells present in the epithelium.
The cells occur both in the surface epithelium and in the epithelium of intestinal glands. They
are characterized by the presence of numerous vesicles and tubules situated in the
supranuclear region of the cell, by prominent microvilli having approximately twice the
