Prostanoids comprise prostaglandins (PGs) and thromboxanes (TXs), are synthesized via
tbe cyclooxygenase pathway from arachidonic acid by a variety of cells in response to
various physiological or pathological stimuli [1]. They are then quickly released outside of
the cells and act as local hormones in the vicinity of their production site to maintain local
