The emphasis was on the prophylactic use of cyclosporine A and methotrexate and their combination, and on the initial treatment of acute GVHD. Eighty-seven centres sent a report. This survey demonstrated that marked differences exist between centres in the practices of GVHD prophylaxis and treatment despite superficially similar protocols. These differences may have an impact on the results obtained.
