Although there is little doubt about the existence of tumor antigens that can be recognized by
cytotoxic T lymphocytes in common human cancers, it is still unclear why these antigens do
not cause tumor rejection. Here, Lieping Chen proposes that immunological ignorance of
silent antigens might explain the inefficient T-cell response to cancer, and suggests how this
may be overcome.
Abstract
