MATERIALS AND METHODS Renal graft biopsies in 16 transplants (1 from cadaveric donor
and 15 from living donors) performed at Toranomon Hospital and Towa Hospital were
studied. The original disease of these 16 patients (average aged 27 years, range 19 to 49)
were IgA nephropathy in 2, purpuric nephritis in 1, reflux nephropathy in 1, renal hypoplasia
in 1, and unknown in 11. The 16 renal biopsies examined consisted of 5 acute graft
