The interaction between the platelet glycoprotein (GP) Ib–IX complex and von Willebrand
factor (VWF) initiates both hemostasis and pathological thrombosis. This interaction is not
only the first adhesive event of platelets at sites of vessel injury, but also facilitates fibrinogen
