BACKGROUND: Poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase activation has been shown to contribute to
the pathogenesis of myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury. We hypothesized that a novel
poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase inhibitor, INO-1001, provides myocardial protection and
